What’s the Buzz? February 22, 2010
Posted on February 22, 2010 by Birgit Chisholm under "The Buzz",

Wishing you all a good week and hoping you’ll be able to join us on Wednesday evenings for a soup supper and worship time.

Joys and Concerns

Please continue to pray for those in our congregation dealing with health issues, particularly Bill Weeks, Betsy Disomma, Tina Rentsch. Also continue to pray for those in our Sunday bulletin’s prayer corner.

Worship Information

Beekman Road – This coming Sunday Pastor Holbrook will guide us through the “First Clearing” of our chancel closet. His message will be based on Joel 2:12-17. Wednesday evening  we will gather for soup supper, fellowship and worship. This year worship will take on a more expressive, creative format, each week being unique. This will be an opportunity to explore worship though the arts: music, dance, visual art and drama. These services will be an example of the style of worship we are considering for once-a-month Saturday evenings. Please join us, all are welcome. Soup Supper will begin at 6:00, and worship will follow at 7:15 for approximately 30 minutes.

Gathering begins at 8:45 AM with the Common Ground band leading worship. Sunday school for The Gathering: Children in PreK-5 start in worship with their families; youth in grades 6-12 start in the Youth House. Foundations begins at 10:30 AM with the Chancel Choir leading worship.  Sunday school for Foundations:  Children in grades Pre-K-5 start in worship with their families; youth in grades 6-12 start in the Youth House.

HRC Journey – Journey is at Tymor Park every Sunday at 10:00 AM.  Worship is led by Lynn and Wayne Morrison.  Sunday school is available for children in Pre-K through 5th grade. Odyssey is the 2nd & 4th Sundays of every month. This coming Sunday is an Odyssey Sunday! If you have never been to an Odyssey service, you really should experience one!

Common Ground – The Common Ground service meets at Arlington Reformed Church’s parsonage at 129 Ray Blvd., Poughkeepsie NY beginning at 4:00 PM.

Upcoming Events

February 27- Winter Festival at 4:00 PM. Don’t forget to bring a covered dish to share! If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Sheryle Silvern.

  • Last week, after the bulletin was done, I learned of a community event with which you might be able to help.  February 25 – 28 is S.O.S. (Send One Suit) Weekend for Dress for Success! Dress for Success was created to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Drop off your nearly-new suit at a Dress Barn store and help a woman enter the workforce with confidence and style. To locate a participating store near you, visit www.dressbarn.com.

  • MISSING: Edwina Pratt is missing a white container filled with batteries and book lights from the choir room closet.  If you have seen this container, please return it to the choir room, or contact Edwina.  She has been looking for this container for a couple of weeks.

  • This might be a good time to re-connect with our own missionary, Hilary Holbrook. She has returned to Mexico and is back to blogging about her life and experiences there. You can read all about it at http://hilaryholbrook.blogspot.com. It might just sprout some seeds for YOU! Why not consider going on a mission trip this year?

The Spring issue of Hopewell Happenings will be at the kiosk this Sunday! (As long as the weather holds out this week!)

Don’t forget to check out our website, HopewellReformedChurch.org.

And that is all the buzz there is this week!

Your sister in Christ,

Birgit
