October 5, 2009 by Karen Gomba under Family Fellowship, Outreach and Missions, Volunteer Opportunities,
The annual turkey supper will be on Saturday, November 7th! Our kickoff day for signing up to help will be on Sunday, October 11th between services and after the 10:30 service. Please consider volunteering. All the money made from this dinner supports all the supplies used in the kitchen during the year, and helps with many projects. Thank you for any help you may give. For tickets, call Carol Bean. For more information, call Paula Engel.

We would like to have our children participate more in worship. One opportunity is to be an acolyte, a.k.a. lighter of the candles. Children truly enjoy this experience but we need help to get it started. We need a coordinator, to contact children/parents and to schedule/ remind them. That’s it! This is an opportunity to serve that has a short time commitment. CONTACT: Sherri Hondorp

This month we honored Carl Nuessle for his contributions to the life of our church. Carl is an usher, serves as a Stephen Minister, and also as our Facilities Project Manager, assisting Karen Gomba with the work that needs to be done in and around the church. Thanks, Carl, for all you do!

We are looking for a team of volunteers to generate a powerpoint file of upcoming activities and opportunities for projection each week in the fellowship hall. This will include gathering the information, putting the file together and setting it up to run before and after each service. CONTACT: Karen Gomba

This month we honored Dave Schuster for all the time and effort he puts in to coordinate and schedule sound technicians for each worship service (including actually doing the work himself!) and to keeping all the equipment in order and up to date. Thanks, Dave, for working behind the scenes and doing it with a joyful heart! We also recognized Marge Way with a game ball; did you know that she has been singing in the HRC choir since she was in high school? We admire this kind of dedication and are thankful for her inspiration to us all!

This month we honor Beth Seregely for the way she has dedicated her time and talents to a variety of ministries here at HRC. She has provided childcare for ChristCare groups, served on the BANK team, is a Stephen Minister, was a Sunday School teacher and has most recently helped out as a youth office administrator. In this last capacity she performed data entry, recorded Sunday School attendance and acted as the communication focal point. Thanks, Beth, for all you’ve done!

Do you live in the Town of Wappingers area? A long-time dedicated member of our congregation would like a ride to worship services whenever it is convenient. This can be shared between several people. If you are able and willing to help, let Pam know. CONTACT: Pam Hansen
